Kids Acting Workshop

Focus

- The workshop focusses on using theatre games & exercises to develop body balance, voice & imagination to create characters. Through tried and tested acting methods, which Anshuman Jha has experienced & practiced over the last 15 years under the guidance of stalwarts like Atul Kumar & Barry John, the idea is to create a fun environment through an intense program for students to understand the fundamentals of performance.

About Anshuman Jha -

He began his theatre journey as a 13-year-old by coming to Mumbai from Delhi for Summertime Acting Workshops At Prithvi Theatre - Sanjana Kapoor, Atul Kumar, Ramnath Tharwal, Neeraj Kabi are a few gurus he learnt from between age 13-16. Soon, he made his debut as a professional stage actor in a host of children's plays such as "Jhagrapoor" and "Lalchi" at Prithvi Theatre as a 15-year-old. Jha finished the Diploma Acting Course from Barry John's Academy as a 17-year-old, the youngest ever to have passed out of the course then. He was then cast by Barry John (theatre director) in his play "Its All About Money Honey" in 2002. Jha shifted his base to Mumbai as an 18-year-old and graduated from St. Xavier's College. During these three years he worked in a host of experimental and non-experimental plays with directors like Quasar Padamsee, Joy Fernandes and Jaimini Pathak. His devised play Dirty Talk was directed by Nayantara Roy. It was India's representation at Contact-World Theatre Festival in 2010 at Manchester, UK. His most recent play is Ramu Ramanathan's classic "The Boy Who Stopped Smiling" where he plays the lead character & he was also seen in & as "Jhumroo" - India's Biggest Bollywood Musical - by WizCraft at the Kingdom Of Dreams Gurgaon in 2016-2017.

He began assisting Atul Kumar in conducting Theatre Workshops from age 17, the same workshops he had participated in till he was 16. Following which he began conducting workshops for children independently from 2005 & has been associated with The Time Of India NIE in the same capacity between 2005-2008 & conducted workshops at schools such as Bombay Scottish & Maneckji Cooper have . He has been invited as a Guest Lecturer on "Acting" by Whistling Woods International & continues to train kids & adults as a co-actor now in the films he chooses to act in. His filmography includes Dibakar Bannerjee's "LSD", National Award Winnning Film maker Janaki Vishwanathan's debut hindi feature film "Yeh Hai Bakrapur", Onir's "Chauranga", Drishyam Film's "X:Past Is Present" & one of 2018's critically acclaimed Bollywood Film "Angrezi Mein Kehte Hain", amongst others. He has also endorsed popular brands such as TataSky in 2011-2012 & Pepsi. He was voted the Advertising face Of the year in 2011 by CNN-IBN's "StoruBoard".
